About Gordy Hulten
As Champaign County Clerk, Gordy Hulten has worked diligently to make voting more accessible while using new technology and innovations to save Champaign County taxpayers thousands of dollars.
Since becoming Champaign County Clerk in 2011, Gordy has improved the service his office provides to the residents of Champaign County. He has led voter registration efforts that have resulted in a record number of registered voters in the county, and has earned bipartisan praise for the implementation of seven new early voting locations throughout the County to allow residents to vote early with greater ease.
Gordy has been a responsible and efficient steward of taxpayer dollars. Under his leadership, his office designed and implemented electronic pollbooks at no cost to local taxpayers to make the Election Day experience more accurate and efficient for voters. He has also utilized technology and cost-cutting measures to trim thousands of dollars from his annual office budget. Hulten also led a coordinated process for the decennial 2011 redistricting process throughout the county, saving numerous agencies across the county thousands of dollars.
As a bipartisan leader in the community, Gordy Hulten has worked with both parties on the Champaign County Board to earn unanimous support for numerous legislative priorities. He has established new precinct maps and polling locations as well as a comprehensive rewriting of the county liquor ordinance. All passed with unanimous support.
Gordy is an active member of the Champaign-Urbana community. He is a member of the Champaign Rotary Club and has played a role in the United Way of Champaign County’s Emerging Community Leaders and Pillar Plus programs. He previously served as a member of the Champaign County Forest Preserve District Foundation Board and Champaign County Chamber of Commerce Government Council. He also served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserve.
Gordy is a 2002 graduate of the University of Illinois, and lives in Champaign with his wife, Pam, and their children, Will and Cate.
